2021 Honda CR-V Dimensions

2021 Honda CR-V

There are many reasons that the 2021 Honda CR-V may be the right vehicle for your Bloomington, Columbus, and Ellettsville, IN, drives. One of the simplest ways to see the type of ride this vehicle provides is through its dimensions.

Our team at Andy Mohr Honda is here to break down some quick specs on the CR-V, so you can better understand if this is the right car for you.

Give us a call, if you have any additional questions along the way.

Exterior Measurements of the CR-V

If you’ve seen the 2021 Honda CR-V jetting around town, then you’ve probably taken note of its sloped hood and sharply angled lines.

This compact SUV is perfect for weaving through traffic, as well, thanks to the following exterior dimensions:

2WD

AWD

Wheelbase

104.8 inches

104.7 inches

Height

66.1 inches

66.5 inches

Ground Clearance

7.8 inches

8.2 inches

As you can see, these measurements vary slightly based on whether you choose a 2-wheel drive (2WD) or an all-wheel drive (AWD) model.

No matter which type of traction appeals to you, you’ll be treated to a vehicle length of 182.1 inches for a nimble ride. Being that the CR-V is, as already described, nimbler than its competitors, it can make its way around easier thanks to a width of 73 inches.

On top of its great ground clearance, if you want to take your adventures beyond the blacktop, the CR-V can help you achieve that goal. In 2WD models, the CR-V features an approach angle of 18.1 degrees, making it easy to clear any obstacles directly in front of you.

The departure angle in 2WD models is 25.3 degrees, except in the Touring trim, where it is 22.4 degrees. In AWD models, the approach angle and departure angle are slightly better, with the approach angle topping out at 18.9 degrees and the departure angle at 26 degrees—except in the Touring trim, which is 23.1 inches.

One of the most important components of the body of the CR-V is its fuel tank. Across all CR-V trims, you’ll have the convenience of a 14-gallon fuel tank. All trims of the Honda CR-V achieve an EPA-estimated 28 city/34 highway/30 combined MPG in 2WD models and an EPA-estimated 27 city/32 highway/29 combined MPG in AWD models.*

Enjoy the ability to add almost any type of tires you can think of, with 17-inch, 18-inch, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The tire weight and the tire pressure will depend on the type of wheel and the type of tire. If your tires are ever low on air, a built-in Tire Pressure Monitoring System can alert you when one or more of them are low.

Weight is distributed fairly evenly in the CR-V, with 58 percent of the vehicle’s weight found in the front and 42 percent found in the rear for AWD models. The Touring trim comes in at 57 percent in the front and 43 percent in the rear.

In 2WD models, the front and rear weight distribution increases to 59 percent and 41 percent respectively. The Touring trim comes in at 58 percent in the front and 42 percent in the rear.

2021 Honda CR-V: Interior Specs

Despite its petite stance, the CR-V has plenty of room for you to stretch out in, with a passenger volume of 105.9 cubic feet in the LX and the Special Edition trims. In the EX, the EX-L, and the Touring trims, you get a little less passenger volume, with 102.9 cubic feet.

This breaks down further into the following roomy dimensions in the LX and the Special Edition trims:

Front Row

Rear Row

 Headroom

 40.1 inches

 39.2 inches

 Legroom

 41.3 inches

 40.4 inches

 Hip Room

 55.1 inches

 49.5 inches

 Shoulder Room

 57.9 inches

 55.6 inches

To further enhance the cabin's comfort, you can equip the 2021 Honda CR-V interior with heated front seats and a driver’s seat with 12-way power adjustment and 4-way power lumbar support.  In the EX, the EX-L, and the Touring trims, you can get even more out of these seats, with 2-position memory.

After you set your seats preferred positioning, the system can remember them and automatically adjust to them upon you entering the vehicle. For addition comfort, the EX-L and Touring trims come standard with leather seats.

The CR-V also offers a lot in the way of infotainment options. In the earlier trims, you’ll have access to four booming speakers to go along with a 5-inch LCD touchscreen. You can use this screen to access many components of your iPhone or Android with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. This includes texts, calls, music, podcasts, maps and more.

You can upgrade the touchscreen in the CR-V from five inches to seven inches, and there are a couple different audio systems you’ll have access to. First up is a 180-watt, 6-speaker system, which can also become an 8-speaker system. There is also a 330-watt, 9-speaker system with a subwoofer for even thicker, more powerful audio.

Honda CR-V Cargo Capacity

Cargo Capacity

In addition to the 2021 Honda CR-V having ample room to stretch your legs in, you’ll be treated to an expansive cargo area. Bring all your essentials, from groceries to weekend luggage, thanks to 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space.

The interior is fully configurable to your specific needs with an easy fold-down 60/40 split rear seatback. Fold part of it down to fit longer items, like a new rug or lamp, or fold it flat entirely for a maximum cargo space of 75.8 cubic feet.

In the hybrid models, you still get a lot of cubic feet of cargo room, but it is a touch less than what you’ll find in the gas models. With the rear seats up, hybrid models get 33.2 cubic feet of cargo space, and 68.7 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.

To make loading up and hitting the road easier, the CR-V is available with a power tailgate that opens with the simple push of a button. A programmable height on this feature keeps everything in reach.

Nothing will get left behind with this SUV, thanks to available roof rails for mountain bikes and kayaks, along with a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds for larger items.
