2019 CR-V vs 2019 Escape: Performance 2019 Honda CR-V

When it comes to crossovers, you expect a top-of-the-line drive that will get you where you’re going with vigor. Although both vehicles are equipped with reliable components under their hoods, there are some notable differences.

Standard in the Escape, you’ll find a 2.5L engine. This generates 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, which is optimal for city driving. This engine is also paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, allowing you to easily handle the road ahead.

On the other hand, the CR-V comes standard with a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine. Although this offers fewer liters than the Ford, it comes out on top with 184 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque, making for a more powerful ride. A Continuously Variable Transmission with Sport Mode is also included, giving you more chances to enhance and personalize your commutes. Additionally, features like Hill Start Assist, Active Noise Cancellation™, and an Eco Assist™ System all come standard in every trim.

Honda CR-V vs Ford Escape: Interior Space

These two SUVs make sure that you and your passengers are able to get cozy inside the cabins. However, one might leave you wanting a little more room.

The 2019 CR-V interior offers 105.9 cubic feet of passenger volume. This includes 57.9 inches of shoulder room in the front and 40.4 inches of legroom in the back, allowing even taller folks to have plenty of space while sitting in the second row.

In the 2019 Escape, the passenger volume measures 98.7 cubic feet, which is considerably smaller than that of the Honda. Front shoulder room is also smaller at 55.9 inches, and the legroom in the back only comes to 37.3 inches.

CR-V vs Escape: Cargo Room CR-V cargo

=SUVs should have enough space to really pack in all your belongings. In the Ford Escape, you’ll find a cargo space of 34 cubic feet when the seats are in their upright positions. Fold them down, and that space opens up to a generous 68 cubic feet, making it ideal for transporting larger items.

However, the Honda CR-V takes the cake once again with an incredibly spacious cargo area. When the seats are upright and filled with people, you’ll have an impressive space of 39.2 cubic feet behind the second row. Need more room? Easily fold down the 60/40-split rear seatback, and you’ll get a whopping 75.8 cubic feet to fill!
