Honda Insight vs Ford Fusion: Design 2019 Insight blue

At one time, hybrid cars weren’t thought of as being leaders in design. As newer models emerge, the attention to styling detail seems to grow.

The 2019 Honda Insight prototype is one exceptionally sharp looking hybrid car. Much like another Honda family-member, the Accord, it employs a fastback reminiscent body with a long, sculpted nose and swept-back rear.

This sloped body comes with a flashy grille, too. It’s framed by a chrome surround, and completed by its connected, winged LED headlights.

The Ford Fusion Hybrid eschews a fastback body for a more traditionally shaped sedan frame. While it does feature some bold character lines of its own, it lacks the sportier nuances of its competitor.

Insight vs Fusion Hybrid Safety  Honda Insight interior

In order to keep you and your family safe out on the road, your hybrid car needs to come equipped with a wide array of intelligent safety features.

In the 2019 Honda Insight, these features will come in the form of the available Honda Sensing® suite of features. These technologies utilize cameras and sensors to predict when collisions will occur, and act autonomously to prevent them. Its features include:

  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System™
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
  • Lane Keeping Assist System
  • Road Departure Mitigation System

The Ford Fusion Hybrid offers some similar smart safety features, too, such as the Lane-Keeping System and Adaptive Cruise Control (despite lacking Traffic Sign Recognition altogether). Unfortunately, even at its top trim level, these features are only optional equipment.

2019 Insight vs 2018 Fusion Hybrid Technology

In addition to all that high-tech safety equipment, you’re probably hoping that you’ll have some high-tech infotainment equipment, too. In this area, the 2019 Honda Insight will continue to deliver.

On the standard touchscreen in the Insight, you’ll have customizable app tiles, home-screen shortcuts, and a boost from the available Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ mobile integrative systems.

With these features, you can really stay connected, no matter where you’re going—even in the base trim. Honda Insight

The 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid offers some nice infotainment as well with the SYNC® system. This suite offers voice commands and Bluetooth® hands-free capabilities in the base trim. However, it’s not quite as adaptable as the customizable Insight system.
