Honda HR-V Safety Ratings

Red Honda HR-V

To really understand how safe a car is in the event of an accident, it needs to go through some crash tests. Fortunately, there are several organizations that put every car through these tests annually.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is a branch of the Department of Transportation that aims to save lives and prevent injuries by awarding cars a rating. The 2018 Honda HR-V has earned a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA.1

Honda HR-V Surrounded by Steel

The foundation of the 2018 Honda HR-V is a frame that was built out of extremely high-strength steel. The body of the HR-V was constructed to protect occupants in a variety of crash situations but has been further engineered to aid with head-on collisions. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure increases protection for passengers during any collision in the front.

Moving from the frame to the interior, the 2018 Honda HR-V is packed with airbags to protect you and your passengers in the event of an accident.

For the driver and front passenger, there are front airbags and side SmartVent® airbags designed to protect the driver and front passenger’s torsos when an impact is detected from the side. Passengers in the back are protected during collisions by side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor. These airbags cover both sides of the interior when a side impact is detected.

  • Vehicle Stability Assist™ notices if you start drifting and guides you back on the right path by reducing power and adding brake force to the appropriate side.
  • The Multi-Angle Rearview Camera lets you see what’s behind you, so you’ll be aware of any obstacles or incoming traffic.
