2022 Honda Civic Review
Change is exciting and thrilling and causes those little hairs on the back of your neck to stand up. Change prevents us from getting complacent while pushing us to constantly innovate and be the best we can be.
This is why the 2022 Honda Civic has undergone a significant change. In spite of having the same Civic moniker, this sedan is fresh and new, so allow our team at Andy Mohr Honda to give you insights into what this commuter can do for you.
If our Bloomington, Columbus, and Ellettsville, IN, drivers are interested in a test drive, continue reading to learn more. If you want to be first in line for this sedan, just give us a call.
Sporty Yet Efficient Performance
One of the hallmarks of the Civic is the way in which it blends power and efficiency. The 2022 Civic provides an available 180-horsepower, turbocharged engine as well as a standard 158-horsepower engine, so you’re sure to enjoy spirited acceleration and invigorating gear changes.
What makes these engines special is that both of them feature a fuel-saving idle-stop system. When the system detects that the car has been stopped for more than two seconds, the engine automatically turns off to save fuel. Every time you stop at a red light, a stop sign, or during rush-hour traffic, your engine will actively save your unused fuel.
These engine options and the resourceful idle-stop system make for great fuel efficiency across all four of its trims. Should you choose to ride in the standard LX trim of the 2022 Honda Civic, you can expect an EPA-estimated 31 city/40 highway MPG.1 Choose the 2022 Honda Civic EX trim and receive an EPA-estimated 33 city/42 highway MPG.1
It’s clear that this model can cover a lot of ground, whether you’re gliding through city streets or taking on long stretches of highway. Speaking of highway driving, you’ll also be treated to three drive modes, including the Sport mode. Switch to this mode during highway drives for a more thrilling ride.
An Athletic Upgrade
At first glance, you may not recognize the 2022 Honda Civic as a member of the Civic family. Its exterior is completely redesigned with sculpted side panels and sports car styling throughout. With finishing touches, like gloss black side mirrors, 18-inch wheels, and a chrome exhaust finisher, this compact car is sure to turn heads.
While the styling is all-new for the Civic, eye-catching exterior finishes—like Aegean Blue Metallic and Morning Mist Metallic—are available to match whatever aesthetic you’re going for.
Inside the 2022 Honda Civic
The 2022 Honda Civic is designed to seat five passengers at a time, which means you’ll want comfort at every level. Luckily, the Civic does just that with its seat dimensions. The model takes its nearly 100 cubic feet of passenger volume and distributes that generously to both front- and rear-row passengers.
For example, those seated in the front will have 42.3 inches of legroom to stretch their legs during those longer commutes. Not far behind are the rear passengers who are given 37.4 inches of legroom. Compared to the last year’s model, the 2022 Civic adds about 1.4 more inches of rear legroom.
Thanks to this kind of space, it should be no problem loading in passengers for your weekend getaways or comfortably riding solo to your next meeting.
Speaking of comfort, the model dazzles drivers with available comfort features, such as:
- Heated front seats
- 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
- Dual-zone automatic climate control system
- Leather-trimmed seats
- HomeLink® Remote System
If you need space for your essentials, the model still allows for plenty of trunk space for your grocery bags, luggage, and more. There are also available accessories that help transport your cargo, like a secure cargo net.
To really see this model’s cabin capability, check out the Honda Civic Touring trim. This is the highest trim level, and therefore, offers the most for your interior. This includes a one-touch power moonroof that not only opens up your cockpit, but also adds natural lighting and fresh air.
For clear, crisp audio, the trim also comes standard with the Bose® Premium Sound System. Use standard Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™ integration to stream your favorite playlists and listen to podcasts. Get navigational directions though this advanced 12-speaker system.
Protection at Every Turn
The always reassuring Honda Sensing® safety suite comes standard on the 2022 Honda Civic and includes the following protective features:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System™: Applies the brakes when a frontal collision seems imminent to help avoid impact.
- Road Departure Mitigation System: Provides gentle steering corrections as needed to keep you firmly on the road.
- Lane Keeping Assist System: Makes subtle steering adjustments to keep you centered in your lane.
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow: Maintains a set following speed and distance between you and the car ahead while stopping and slowing as traffic calls for.
- Traffic Sign Recognition System: Intelligently reads the road and warns you of detected Do Not Enter, Speed Limit, Stop, and Yield signs to keep you alert.
Of course, you can never be too safe when traveling the unpredictable roads, so the latest Civic also has an available Blind Spot Information System. This system lets you know when vehicles are traveling or approaching your side blind zones, so you can travel with complete confidence.
The 2022 Civic also upgrades its safety systems with additional airbags located near the knees of the front-seat passengers. This is to protect and prevent knee-related injuries during a collision. The Civic does its part to lessen the impact of head injuries as well with standard driver’s and front passenger’s front airbags.
