2022 Honda Insight: Efficient and Effective Under the Hood

One of the most important factors in providing an efficient drive in any vehicle is the powertrain under the hood. In the Insight, you’ll find a hybrid powertrain that utilizes both gas and electric power.

The gas motor is a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 107 horsepower and 99 lb-ft of torque. The AC Synchronous Permanent-Magnet Electric Motor works in tandem with this, producing 129 horsepower and 197 lb-ft of torque on its own.

This engine setup is mated to an Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission, which further optimizes the fuel efficiency. This transmission will operate autonomously, like an automatic. However, rather than using set gear ratios, the transmission continuously looks for ideal ratios in order to optimize performance. Not to mention the Eco Assist™ System, which will further enhance fuel economy.

The culmination of this powertrain? An incredibly efficient drive, earning an EPA-estimated 55 city/49 highway MPG.¹

2022 Honda Insight: Interior

The Insight will also delight in the interior, with both seating space and cargo room.

In terms of seating, the 97.6 cubic feet of passenger volume will provide you with the ability to seat up to five with ease. The interior space is further optimized to provide you with advanced comfort behind the wheel, where you’ll find 39.3 inches of front headroom and 42.3 inches of front legroom.

If you find you need to store any cargo, the Insight also proves capable. Utilizing the trunk space, you’ll have 15.1 cubic feet of cargo volume at your disposal. This should prove spacious enough to handle luggage for a weekend getaway or your bags from a shopping trip to the mall.

This space can be increased as well. Just use the 60/40 split fold-down functionality to optimize the second row for storage rather than for seating.
