INTERIOR
Honda Passport

To carry all the passengers and sporting gear in your car, you’ll need room. While both the Honda Passport and the Subaru Outback have spacious interiors and an abundance of amenities, it’s clear that the Honda Passport pulls ahead in multiple areas.

Pack Your Cargo

Whether you’re stocking up on groceries or going on vacation, you’ll need a large vehicle that has room for both you and your belongings. The Honda Passport supplies more room for boxes, bags, furniture, and more. From the 114.9 cubic feet of passenger space to the maximum cargo capacity of 100.8 cubic feet, you’ll have plenty of space.

In the Subaru Outback, less space is available. With this vehicle, you’ll get 109 cubic feet of passenger volume and only 75.6 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume. Most dimensions in the interior come very close except for the rear shoulder room. The Honda possesses 61.9 inches, while the Subaru gives you just 57.4 inches.

Find the Perfect Temperature

Amenities make a difference when it comes to both cars. Many comfort features in the Honda come standard, while the Subaru only offers comparable ones that are available in some trims. For instance, heated front seats appear in the Passport and can be selected for the Outback.

Honda easily tops Subaru features in a variety of areas. You’ll sit in a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and enjoy customizable temperatures with the tri-zone climate control system. The Subaru includes a 6-way manually adjustable driver’s seat and optional dual-zone climate control.

TECHNOLOGY
Honda Passport

From the audio system to safety features, both the Honda Passport and the Subaru Outback have a lot of high-tech features to offer. While both models have advanced technology, which one comes out on top?

Safety Technologies

Whether you buy the EX-L, the TrailSport, or the Elite trim, the Passport provides a handy multi-angle rearview camera. To help keep you safe when making moves with your SUV, rely on the Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Monitor.

If you want wraparound views from your Outback, you’ll need to add the 180-degree Front-View Monitor to the Rear-Vision Camera. In fact, you’ll need to add Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert as well.

Infotainment Technologies

You shouldn’t have to upgrade your vehicle to get good technology. With the Honda Passport, advanced technology like the 7-speaker audio system and the 8-inch multimedia display come standard. Both the Honda Passport and the Subaru Outback share these connectivity features:

  • Apple CarPlay®
  • Android Auto™
  • Wi-Fi® capability

However, the standard technology in the Subaru Outback may leave you wanting more. The base trim only offers a standard 4-speaker system and a 7-inch display.

PERFORMANCE
Honda Passport

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention performance. Both the Honda Passport and the Subaru Outback are known for their powerful engines, but which one takes the cake? Let’s dive in to see exactly what these SUVs can do.

Standard Output

With the Honda Passport, you only need one engine to give you all the power. The 3.5L V6 engine produces 280 horsepower. The Subaru has two engines: the 2.5L SUBARU BOXER® 4-cylinder puts out 182 horsepower; and the available 2.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder produces 260 horsepower. Neither iteration matches the power of the Passport.

If you’re planning to buy a trailer or attach one to your SUV, you’ll want to know how much towing capacity it’s capable of. With the Honda, you’ll have a maximum of 5,000 pounds. The Subaru limits you to a 3,500-pound towing capacity when properly equipped.

More Options

Depending on your preferences, the Passport can traverse any type of roads with either front-wheel drive (FWD) or optional all-wheel drive (AWD). While the Outback provides their signature Symmetrical AWD, that’s it. You’re not given a choice.
